What’s a dirty chai, you ask? Well, you’ll find that it’s an artisanal, hand-poured, chai-infused essence mixed with a double shot of our finest single origin espresso and finished off with a milk or plant-based mylk of your choice.
Masala chai can trace its origins back to India where tea breaks were beginning to be introduced by employers to workers in the early 20th century. Traditionally made by brewing black tea in milk and water, usually sweetened with sugar, chai gradually evolved to include the addition of aromatic herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.
This warming concoction has something calming and comforting about it and, when mixed with coffee, it’s instantly elevated to become something both familiar and energising.
For those who find the taste of pure chai too sweet, or for those who find the taste of pure coffee too overpowering, or even for those craving something a little sweet with a hint of caffeine, this drink strikes a delicate balance, with a taste that’s second to none.
Chai and coffee is a truly tantalising combination and, once you try it, you’ll find it to be a truly special treat you’ll want to revisit over and over again.
